Our Story:

One day I was listening to talk radio, (yes, the conservative kind).  The hosts were discussing  marijuana and the possibility of one day legalizing it. I was half asleep and barely listening, but it got me thinking…

Every day in this country, people buy and sell marijuana in various amounts packaged in little plastic baggies. Why hasn’t anyone thought to come up with a brand of marijuana cigarettes? Well, the obvious answer to my question was that no one had created a brand for the stuff because it is still illegal  !!!

Let’s pretend for a moment (like most pot smokers do anyway) that it is not illegal. What a wide open segment of the market to capitalize on! You know what they say about being the first into the marketplace. So, with that premise I began research on all things marijuana.

The Logo:

While doing my research, I wanted to come up with a logo that was easily recognizable. I wanted it to be simple and convey immediately the product and the brands origin. One day while imagining possible designs, the image came to me and it was exactly what I wanted. Thus the “Cape and Leaf” logo was born. The first design was created around a flip top cigarette box. (see our “product” page)

Next came the name. What do you call a brand of marijuana cigarette? Well, from all my research I learned that the marijuana community has a term for marijuana, sort of a code phrase for pot.  (Yes, I know that this is elementary to most of us.)

It is also a term that can be interchangeable and used as a reference for “spark time”.  That term is “420”.

“420” by itself is like calling tobacco cigarettes, tobacco. The term “blue” gives the brand it’s designation. The name brand was born!  420 blue.
